Tuning up
We try every summer to visit a few of the BBC Prom concerts at the wonderful Royal Albert Hall. One year, many years ago (before we had children) we bought season tickets for the whole season. Even though we were both working in London at the time, so staying on in the evening for a concert wasn't much effort, we still didn't have the stamina to attend every single concert for which our tickets were valid (unlike some diehards who are there every year, every evening throughout the season). However, we did get to a large proportion of them and experienced a wide range of enjoyable music.
These days, we have less stamina and less energy. However, we do have a weekly season for this week, starting today. So this was our first visit to the Proms this year (and it is already Prom 30). As usual, we are promming in the Arena - I'm not too old for that yet (although we have bought real seats for a Prom toward the end of the season).
There aren't many concerts where you can lie on the floor letting the music wash over you!
Borodin, Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky tonight. Fantastic!
