Plum Blossoms
With a little judicious cropping, the plum blossoms behind the branches make a rather nice organic abstract. I liked the contrast with the green grass so I've put the uncropped one in extras. We took ourselves out for a short walk this morning 'to clear our heads' as the miscreant might say when asked for an alibi on a British mystery. We are both feeling better for it, despite what the Covid test continues to tell us.
It was a beautiful morning and we stopped to chat with some guys who were working on the sewer. Their four trucks parked next to the path said Ghilloti , so John had to tell them about how he went to school with Larry Ghilloti, and they filled us in on how there are now four different Ghilloti construction companies, all run by the same family. Interesting, up to a point. But when one fellow stepped up to tell us about how he always gets thrown out of the office in the morning for talking too much and all his co workers behind him were laughing and rolling their eyes, we beat a hasty retreat. We could hear him explaining to the coworkers as we walked away that he just wanted to tell us that. He really didn't need to.
I'm really limiting my news intake to a minimum as it's just too upsetting to see what passes for news on the networks and b) what really is being reported on more reliable outlets. My general observations are that a)there IS pushback, but not where it counts which is in the Republican party. There is a blizzard of lawsuits, but the judiciary moves at a glacial pace. And also that a lot of things that came out in the blizzard of executive orders are either being walked back or aren't happening much at all. Probably the most shameful things that did happen was that the felon voted with Russia and against our European allies (former allies?) in a United Nations vote on Ukraine, and the blatant power grab by Musk. When questioned about his 'request' that government workers give five things they had done in the past week, or be fired, he said it wasn't a test of competency, it was a test to determine if the respondents 'had a pulse and two neurons'.
And to think I once sort of admired the smug bas*a#d.
