The Sun Shines On The Righteous
And also on me, well it's my birthday today!
We've been to Worcester for a mooch and a nice lunch, and for me to try out my new fish-eye lens. I'm really pleased with it, though it's a lot heavier than I expected. I suppose that's a good sign though, lots of glass in it.
I had a look around Worcester cathedral, my second cathedral this week. It's very similar to Gloucester, with cloisters, a (much smaller and accessible) crypt and a Chapter House. There was an impressive art exhibition there (first extra).
Google maps took us across country, I assume to avoid the A417 missing link roadworks. I'm pretty sure we drove past the owl fields. Even mid morning there were two cars parked up, with photographers lurking. A huge camouflaged lens and a camouflage jacket gave them away.
The second extra is the first shot I took with the lens, the garden through the kitchen door. I'm still getting used to the manual lens settings of course but it seems that focussing to infinity with a small aperture gets everything in focus. If you look large you can see mrsfb's latest book reading garden acquisition mid right, strangely lit by a window reflection I think. You can also spot our lone rose bottom mid right. We're expecting the gardener tomorrow by the way to do some planting.
So, I've had a nice day, with some great presents, a WhatsApp video of the grandsons singing happy birthday this morning, and just now a Skype with daughter#2. I'm hoping to persuade mrsfb to watch my new I'm Not There blu-ray with me this evening.

Back In The Penthouse
My first birthday email this morning was from an insurance company.
