Garage / Tool Shed - Doe

I went out to Westmead Hospital to participate in a clinical trial run by one of K’s former colleagues. It’s to test an applicator to self-administer vaccines. I was filmed applying it twice (dry runs), asked for suggestions to simplify the instructions and answered a questionnaire. There was also a pinch test and a grip test.

The hospital itself was huge. I had to walk the length of Blocks A-J to reach K, dodging buggies providing lifts to the infirm/bewildered and passing what resembled small shopping villages complete with greenery and food courts.

The sculpture is at the entrance to the children’s hospital. It combines LEGO and IKEA furniture to highlight the transition from child to adult, according to the hospital’s FB post. The kids have art activities of their own.
