Too huge to hug
After doing a few things around the house, I decided to enjoy some shinrin-yoku (forest bathing). I love this huge cedar that's close to our house. Some Indigenous cultures believe that hugging a tree is "...a way to connect with the wisdom of nature and to heal both body and soul." I held my hands against the trunk then stretched out my arms, and I couldn't even reach halfway around the trunk. I walked down our trail and breathed in all the smells of the forest. Rejuvenating. My family knows that one of my very favourite smells is the forest on a hot day. It wasn't hot today, but I loved the different smells anyway. How lucky are we to have such a tree and the forest steps from our house?
