New kitchen, new kettle, no logic

Went to make a cup of coffee in this new kitchen using a new kettle. Hhmm, one problem an absolute lack of the application of logic, either that, or work done by Chinese men who've never used a kitchen.

There are actually five electrical sockets in this kitchen none reachable with the kettle's flex. Unless it's lifted up by placing it one its box and then there's another socket above it even higher. Just for extra safety it's placed next to the the sink! There are three more power outlets strategically placed just to the left of the cooker hood...
