Steady Hand
Today, Angie gets to sit in the driving seat. And yes, the driving seat on German carriages is on the right, as if one was driving in the UK. It's due to the official horse driving system introduced by Benno von Achenbach, a cavalry soldier who 1906 was made head of the Kaiser's carriage 'fleet' and 1922 presented his book on horse carriage driving, the German bible and I think in most respects used internationally. von Achenbach studied many well known carriage drivers including English ones.
Although we have driven old, 1000% reliable Nero in a small sulky, on public roads for good 10 years, a carriage is something else, and two horses quite something else plus. At least it's getting us prepared for the start of our training before our driving licence lessons & test in the summer.
