A new project is taking shape
...pulling my focus from other things.
It gives me a break from thinking about Ugly Americans. I understand greed. I am greedy for books, for knowledge, for beauty. But I cannot fathom people who value the accumulation of more money than they or their descendants can spend in a hundred thousand lifetimes, over the well-being, indeed the survival of a great many fellow humans, not to mention non-human beings. And what is even more unfathomable to me is that some people, themselves poor or struggling, admire that kind of greed. Think of it as a kind of success. I feel adrift sometimes in a world I cannot understand. So I find a new project to work on, to pour love into.
Perhaps to be revealed in the fullness of time.
A new wing is being added to the Portland Art Museum, hence the sign.
