Co-operative Wholesale Building
A large and ornate building on the Southside of the River Clyde in Glasgow City Centre. 95 Morrison Street, originally known as Co-operative House, was opened on 2 January 1897 as the headquarters of the Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Society. The building was designed by architects Bruce & Hay, with much of the exterior sculptural works by James Alexander Ewing. An original statue by Ewing, known as Light and Life, stood above the 150ft tall central tower but sadly deteriorated over time and was removed in the 1990s.
