Diary of an Edinburgher

Archie goes on holiday! (And so do we…)

Today, Archie went off for a wee holiday. We’re trying a new sitter. We dropped him off this morning, and we’ve had regular photos of his happy sniffing in a new neighbourhood, and a whole new back garden all for him!

Meanwhile, we set off along the coast, our target being the Drift Cafe. We’ve read about it for ages, and it’s been going from strength to strength. We booked last week, and had a table with a splendid sea view.

We both had the vegetarian breakfast and it was excellent! We had a view of the Bass Rock, normally covered in gannets, but I read that they arrive in late February, and there could be 150,000 of them - so the Bass Rock is usually white!

A little further on from the cafe is Tantallon Castle, which is a ruin now, but I have visited and clambered up on the walls (in the days when clambering was still an option). In fact I was there in the recent past with Uncle A, and I got him to park in a farm so that I could get the Rock in the correct position (but I can’t find that photo). JR was not as obliging as Uncle A, so this one, with the castle obscuring the Rock, will have to do… *sigh*

We had a wander round the shops in North Berwick, and it’s a nice wee town. Not a bit of litter!!

A grand day out. But we miss Archie…
