Kestrel

It was good to see some sunshine this morning so we ventured out for a walk on Avalon Marshes.

A bittern was booming, hidden by reeds, a marsh harrier was circling in the distance (too distant for a photo) and a cormorant was sunning its wings but most of my photos had been of widgeon and coots until, just before we got back to the cafe, this kestrel landed on the electrical wires above the road and kindly stopped to pose.

We stopped too, for a mocha and a beef and horseradish bap, a modest celebration of the anniversary of when we first met 52 years ago.
