curns' corner

I did not get used to the new bedside lamp. It was incredibly bright, and after some research, it wasn't clear that a lower-impact bulb could be shapely purchased. It has been relocated to a dark corner of the living room where a map from the study is precariously perched on a bookshelf.

The original broken lamp came from Ikea. I checked online, and they no longer make the same model, which isn't a surprise given how long I had the now-broken light. Today, I decided to head to Croydon to buy a new one, which is how we found ourselves in a packed Ikea on a Sunday morning. I should have known better.

We did the complete circuit, looking at the furniture, sofas, kitchens, bathrooms, and marketplace. We checked out their plant collection, and PY wanted to get one. However, he picked up something that needed direct sunlight for a space that would be in the shade. He was annoyed I pointed this out.

We thought we might get something to eat in the restaurant, but the queue was long, and when I investigated, seating was at a premium. We gave up. We found a replacement clip-on lamp. What I did not notice when I researched online was that the LED lamp wasn't replaceable. But when we did the calculations on the predicted number of hours the bulb would last, we determined neither of us would be here to worry about finding a replacement. So, we left with a lamp.
