Ullswater wild

I think it is fair to say that a combination of strong winds and a nephew with a sleep allergy meant that none of us got a particularly good night’s sleep last night!

Feeling restless, I got myself together and after a bacon sandwich courtesy of my sister, I packed my bags and headed for home…well, the long way round.

The weather was very wild and woozly, so I wanted to get down to Ullswater to get the view from the shoreline and one of my favourite vantage points. It didn’t let me down as gusts of wind whipped the water from the lake and sent white horses galloping to the shores.

Whilst my top half was sufficiently protected from the elements, the bottom half was not otherwise I would have happily wandered about it for a lot longer. However, no one likes a soggy bottom, so I took my photos and then headed back down the lake to Glenridding (home of many a family holiday when we were younger) where I paused briefly for a brew before heading over the Kirkstone Pass and eventually home.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing, finishing reading Last Action Heroes, watching First Blood and then the football before I headed out later on for a read through of a play which BATS are putting on.

Hoping I can bag a part of some description as I’m in need of something to get my teeth into outside of work!
