So Grown Up
The Little Misses wanted to go and get some water for my tea this morning and who am I to stand in the way of such helpful independence?!
Last night was much more comfortable. The double sleeping bag proved surprisingly roomy without Miss L sprawled in it!
The rain was incredibly loud again throughout the night. The Little Misses managed to sleep through it thankfully and, again, it was beautiful and sunny when we got up.
After breakfast it was time to tackle dismantling the tent. Our neighbour - who up to this point I had liked and been quite friendly with - came over to watch while he drank his tea and helpfully piped up That's a lot of tent to put up for just two days So annoying!! It made me feel embarrassed like we had a ridiculously massive try-hard tent. Isn't half the fun putting it up and down?
Luckily the sun shone and the breeze breezed all the while we were taking the tent down so last night's rain dried off and we could put it away dry and not get soaked in the process.
The rain held off until we got to my brother's, ate bacon sandwiches and got into the river to finish the magnificent dam. Then the heaven's opened and we all got soaked!
So it was off into Betws y Coed for a roast lamb dinner and a browse round the Cotswold Outdoor Shop which has long been my favourite shop in Betws y Coed and now I'm a seasoned camper I love it even more.
We bought Miss E a raincoat (as it was still tipping it down and all her coats are big fleecy winter ones) and earmarked lots of fab gadgets and gizmos for our next expedition!
Then it was back to Mr D's for a quick cup of tea before heading home. The Little Misses went to the park with Nana - because the rain had stopped, and got absolutely soaked because it started again!
The journey home seemed to last forever. It wasn't helped by the fact that we had stopped for two toilet stops and a snack run for the Little Misses before we even got the English border!
We got home just after 11pm. Aching, knackered and pretty filthy. But very happy!!
I've added a few more holiday shots to my Blipfolio starting here and there are a couple of backblips starting here
