Smooth Holly

This Blip of glossy Holly leaves was taken a few feet from the ground.  It was a mature tree so the spikey edged leaves had been smoothed out, well almost. It is a fascinating adaptation to lose the prickles as they get older and bigger. 

Funny to think that many people get more prickles as they get older. No names, no prick drill.
