Grumpy Old Man

Forecasts are not always right

I wasn't looking forward to today - the forecast had a yellow wind warning from 0600 to 1800, with heavy rain. Because of that I decided not to go to Glasgow - we would be driving back on Sunday. MrsM went by train on Saturday and will return tomorrow.

I woke up around 4am and it was fairly quiet, but at 4.30 the wind began to get up and when I got up at 7.30 it was pretty wild. From the window I could see the rain blowing horizontally across the landscape. But by late morning it had died down a lot and by lunchtime it was just a breeze! So much for the terrible forecast! Then the sun came out and I enjoyed a walk down to the harbour and along the seafront. My Blip today is a picture probably taken by many tourists every day - the distillery and McCaig's Tower.

By the time I got home the wind had almost disappeared; I could have driven to Glasgow and back after all! My extra today is one of several soft shades of polyanthus I bought locally a couple of years ago.

And now it's raining again.

Quote of the day: 'Who has seen the wind? Neither you nor I, but when the trees bow down their heads, the wind is passing by' - Christina Rosetti.
