Getting low
I was at the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection again, for a night shoot. Well, late afternoon, really. The first event was a pilot running the engine of this early Hawk Mk 1, an aircraft that was used for testing various configurations at Boscombe Down (you can see the Aden cannon under the fuselage, and the pylons on the wings).
An engine run was not really worth photographing (!), but it was quite fun being with other photographers, even if many were a tad geeky (not I, of course!). And the engine is not, of course, running for this shot.
And in the Extra, a new treatment of the Tornado GR1 that I flew at RAF Cottesmore when I was converting to the aircraft. Its was the one I flew on my first trip of the course – 1985! And seeing it as a museum piece does make me feel old.
