Fisherman’s hut

I am just back from the most awesome day out. My grandson took me first on a nostalgic trip up through the Maniatoto to where we worked 60 years ago. My husband was cowman gardener on a big sheep station and I cooked for all the permanent men
After this we carried on , on a mystery trip over some clay roads and some gravel til we got to Lake Onslow. A place I have always wanted to see. My blip is one of the fisherman’s huts, they intrigued me and I photographed several of them while Makayla and Cameron put their rods in the water in the hope of catching a trout but no bites. We then carried on over dirt roads steep and windy through amazing country side. Merino country mainly but in some parts cattle. I couldn’t believe the acreage that was amongst those hills.  Eventually we got to Lawrence and stopped at a pub for a very late lunch
On again to Lake Mahiarangi where my son and Cameron also have bach’s. they spend many happy hours there fishing swimming and boating and water skiing
After this it was over the hills til we came to Mc Craes gold mine where Cameron and Makayla work. I took a lot of photos from the road some of which I have put in extras. Also there is a photo of the rocky landscape we were driving through much of the day
I am one happy person with so much ticked off my bucket list today. How kind they were to give me such a day. We travelled over 350 kms all told
What a great weekend it has been
