Legs. Leitz Summicron 50mm DR
Since my last Blip, earlier this week, I have made a very expensive trip to the lumber yard to purchase some thick walnut which forms the four corners of each bedside table. This is a mock-up. The lower, tapered part was recycled from some harpsichord legs in my lumber stash. A little cove molding of South African Yellow Wood will form an aesthetic detail, set into all four sides of the leg, and serve to hide - and strengthen - the joint between upper and lower sections. The Yellow Wood, a single plank brought from South Africa nearly 40 years ago, will also form the tops of the little tables, and the drawer fronts. All of this will become an harmonious whole, very typical of 18th and 19th Century South African furniture.
