Concrete!!

In the 50's the Chalk Cliffs at Folkestone were being seriously threatened by the constant bombardment by sea and weather-so a massive attempt to literally shore up the cliffs was embarked upon! By creating these huge concrete aprons the sea's force was compromised and the White Cliffs were saved!!
The concrete aprons also look a bit like a hovercraft launch platform..!
