Away for a few days to somewhere I've never been before. Somewhere that's looked like it could be right up my street every time I've seen photos of it the last year or so...welcome to Malta!

We arrived mid-afternoon and after dumping our stuff at the apartment (pic from the balcony here) it was off our for an explore around Birgu where we're staying. Very pretty indeed, lots of aesthetically-pleasing Southern European 'stuff'. We went for happy hour cocktails on the waterfront, climbed a fair few flights of steps, ate pizza in the open courtyard (heater provided - it's decidedly cool here after dark) of a restaurant where old men played snooker in the next room, all highly atmospheric. Think Italian sausage with the gentle click of balls in the background.

It's been a long day. Valletta stuff planned for tomorrow.

Maltese
