It was a false start.
The quilt show turned out to be
a craft show instead!

I slept so long this morning that I didn't think I had time for coffee before I had to leave the house at 9:30. I've had this ad on my refrigerator for weeks to remind me of the quilt show today at Country Roads, an upscale retirement complex.

I drove in the gate and found my way to the Ballroom at the centre of the complex. I managed to get parked right in front. A female mannequin dressed as a pirate was the welcoming sign at the door. To my surprise, the Ballroom was filled with crafters and hobbiests.

I can't say I was disappointed. The displays were fabulous. I could see a range of all the work done by residents of this complex - photography, pottery, sewing, knitting, painting, carving.....

I had interesting chats with some displaying their work. The Material Girls had a great display showing what each member had made with a piece of 'ugly' fabric as a challenge. I was particularly impressed with the wood carving of a desert tortoise. The artist showed he'd taken his design from a magazine photo.

I had to remember that a group of seniors in a lovely retirement community like this comes with years of talent and experience. It shows.
I picked up my breakfast on the way home. I'm sipping my coffee as I write this. I'm home for the day now.
