Indomitable survivors
For Flower Friday, with thanks to BikerBear for hosting, as ever.
Another grey day, though the forecast is better for tomorrow. But in the garden, there are new shoots on the roses, blooms on the perennial wallflowers, tiny white flowers on the blueberries. The rhubarb's starting to come up too. All good signs, and today's sudden switch to milder temperatures will push it all forwards.
Richard made chicken liver pate for Ruth, ready for her return tomorrow - she doesn't usually like eating liver, but is doing everything she can to get over her anaemia. It tastes wonderful (I hope she'll think so too).
I see that there are tensions in the US responses to Ukraine: Trump and Rubio continuing to bad-mouth Zelenskyy, while the US envoy Keith Kellogg calls him courageous and appears to be acting civilly. It sounds as if Kellogg - perhaps altogether too sane an individual - has little influence however.
Trump, Vance and Rubio continue to demand minerals with menaces.
I keep reading up on the signs of clear analysis and of resistance: from Illinois governor JB Pritzker, from Heather Cox Richardson, from Rebecca Solnit, from the Alt National Parks Service (find the latter on social media, they're wonderful).
