As I said, parking in Ottawa is sometimes hard
Because my benevolence knows no bounds – and because it was still -25ºC with the windchill – I drove Ottawacker Jr. into school again today, allowing him to avoid frostbite on at least one of his two journeys. I came home, put the coffee on, and then turned the coffee off, got back into my car, and drove back to school to deliver the ice skates Ottawacker Jr. needs for his PE class and which he forgot to take with him. Is this a common thing for kids to do? It seems as if his brain is hardly encased in his skull at times. Admittedly, he is not a complete cabbage like one of the kids in our street (who once forgot in which house he lived), but his mind is, how shall I put it, elsewhere. I am sure I know why, but I am sworn to secrecy.
Anyway, having dropped off his skates at the office, I drove home, put the coffee back on, did some laundry and then… did some writing. I did. I picked up the pen (or rather sat in front of the keyboard) and started work on the novel. I’ve essentially restructured it so the whole reason for the story being told makes sense. AND IT ONLY TOOK ME SEVEN YEARS TO COME UP WITH THE SOLUTION. Hoorah for me.
After a good 90 minutes of typing out an outline, I was cream-crackered, so I did bugger all else for the day. Mrs. Ottawacker went to get her roots done – in hindsight, calling her Skunk Head wasn’t the wisest idea – as she has a presentation tonight in Mississippi Mills. Thankfully, Mississippi Mills isn’t in Mississippi; it’s rural, but people still marry outside of the immediate family. (My God, I have become catty. Mississippi Mills is a very nice place. If you want to see the Top 15 things to do in Mississippi Mills, follow the link. Sitting and looking at an historic five-span stone bridge when it is -25ºC wouldn’t feature high on my list of Great Things To Do Before I Die, but I am sure that is just an individual quirk of mine.)
She left for her presentation before Ottawacker Jr. got back from school. He was late. So, I wrote this blip, and then went downstairs to prepare dinner (the elimination diet is over!) and thrash him soundly at Scrabble. (Or get thrashed soundly at Scrabble…)
