Peacock panic

I absolutely love this road sign. The peacock is so pompous and seems not dangerous at all… However, they do just wander on to the motorway and don’t have the common sense of a monkey or a dog to get themselves out of the way. None today, which would have made a nice extra.
Arrived in Ella - unbelievably crowded - had delicious and startlingly cheap lunch of roti, parathas, dal with fresh mango juice. Ella has a whole different vibe to Galle: Galle is chi-chi, full of beautiful architecture, lovely shops and everything priced high. Young people come to Ella to hike all day, eat plenty and party late; it’s kind of refreshing. We, of course, come for the amazing views, good food and the hotel with the pool overlooking the mountains.
