Fivemile
driving south to reedsport on the coast highway this afternoon i ran into long traffic lines flagged to a stop for a large and overdue repaving project in both lanes.
on the return trip home i took the less-driven alternative 12-mile-long winding gravel fivemile road that snakes through the siuslaw national forest and private timberlands.
the photo shows tahkenitch lake and one of its five-or-so railroad trestles beneath the high, long coast range ridges that reach toward our siltcoos lake home somewhere in the top right corner of the photo.
