A goldfinch tries hard to see off a chaffinch

I watched this goldfinch seeing off several different birds,moslty slightly smaller ones. It seemed more intent on keeping others away than feeding.

It looks like like it has the upper hand, but as soon as the female chaffinch landed the goldfinch flew away.
