Automaton

This curious automaton illustrating the classic song about the still-current Widecombe Fair can be found in a corner of St Pancras church, Widecombe-in-the-Moor, the destination of our longest (and final day's) walk from our holiday accommodation in Lettaford.

The automaton appears to be activated by pulling it along by the string that can be seen curled around the bollard to the left. As it is kept in a plastic case, it was not possible to see it in action - a good thing from the point of view of its preservation.
