Retired

Today I retired from my job as a speech and language therapist. I qualified in 1989 and apart from a long career break to bring up my children, it’s the only job I’ve ever done.
I’ve worked for Swansea Bay Health Board since 2006 and mostly been in schools since then working with children with Developmental Language Disorder.
I had a lovely send off from work colleagues with kind words said and a very generous gift.
It’s going to take a while to sink in, but I’m looking forward to the next phase of life.
I’ve heard it said that you’re not retired but ‘re-tyred’ - as in raring to go for the next stage with new tyres on. I like that!
