Cousin Lane Stairs

My lunchtime walk today. It was a pleasant afternoon and not chilly - so I walked to Canon Street then along the Thames Path back to the Millienuem Bridge. Popping down the stairs to the shore.

Cousin Lane stairs is next to Canon Street railway bridge. They are one of the few remaining water-stairs, which in olden times, allowed free access to the shore. When the tide was high enough, people boarded wherries (river taxis) rowed by a waterman across or along the river.
