Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

By Carol

2025 Wednesday — Remembering

Sixty years ago this evening Mr. Fun asked me to go steady and to wear his class ring. I said "yes" and that changed the course of our lives. He was a freshman at Chaffey College and I was a sophomore at Corona Senior High.

We were too young to realize we were starting a lifetime together. Three months and ten days later, we were saying “I do” at the altar. The roadmap and the soundtrack of our lives have added lots of magic.

Tunes and tours — memories stick to both of those. But better than the magic has been the miracle of God’s Spirit as Jesus walked right into our 10th wedding anniversary vow renewal and turned the H2O of our lives into wine. Jesus spoke forgiveness, redemption, and purpose into our ordinary purposeless routines. He breathed wonder and mystery into the mundaneness of our existence. He promised to lead if we’d promise to follow, and He told us the road would be narrow and that we’d find few who would travel it.

We gave God the steering wheel of our lives. He let us know that if we would stay in His Word our faith would grow even when ugly fears were swirling around us.

Our story would not have happened without Jesus. This is a season, a year, of reminiscing and pinching. All those years ago we had no clue of the highway our lives would be entering. Do you know Jesus? He won’t do magic in your life, but you might be surprised at the miracles He’ll do if you make Him Lord of your life.
