At the edge of a cliff

I feel that’s where we are as a country and as a people. I just posted the note below to my FB account but not sure how long it’ll be allowed to stay up, so replicating it here.

SHAME on our so called government and its sheer cruelty — whether through incompetence or deliberate will. These aren’t dollars and cents you are alledgedly saving . What you are shredding are the actual lives of human beings: in Ukraine, which valiantly fought back against an unprovoked attack by yet another dictator; in Gaza whose land is summarily being overtaken to build resorts with the complicity of yet another despot; across the world’s poorest parts where vital humanitarian support has been withdrawn without so much of a second thought because what: their people are black and brown so who cares; in own backyard where 2 million Americans have just lost their livelihood without so much as a safety net and in complete disregard of laws and procedures; for anyone who isn’t a white male and whose history and achievements have just been erased… I could go on and on, esp about those small people with even smaller consciences who made this possible and who, foolishly, think this administration gives a hoot about them. I wish we could all live long enough to see what a stain on the history of the world this administration is. Because that is exactly how it will be remembered. But none of this will help the lives destroyed now by these empty vessels devoid of any moral compass. Shame on you.
