Fyulls an Bairns?
Another "Motherism".
For the, possibly, uninitiated; I grew up in a household where "Granny" was referred to, and addressed as, "Mother".
Rightly, or wrongly, my rationale is thus - her parents were literally Victorians; born in the mid to late 1800s. Consequently Mam probably addressed them as "Mother" and "Father" as opposed to Mam & Dad; so we followed suit calling "Gran" Mother.
I may have used this before "Fyulls an Bairns should nivver see a job hawf finished." This "job" caught my Eye. I beheld a cluster of green-tipped cream-coloured flowers. I, obviously, recognised them and zoomed in for a smell. THEN I saw the Label proclaiming them as "White Pearl".
T B H; personally I preferred the "Hawf- finished" version.
Another motherism; I'll probably never employ:-
"This, an better, might dyu, this an warse nivver will."
not to mention "This'll nut pay t'old body her ninepence."
Much more of this and my "Spill Chucker" is SURE to have a mental breakdown. ;¬)
BOTH taken today - but believe it or not you're looking at a composite of two photos; I'll not go into the why.
