Baby Maggie

The Australian Magpie has a deadly reputation as the parents can cause havoc trying to protect their nests and their chicks.
However, at the early education service I manage, the magpies are just part of the family. The children are taught not to chase the birds and they nest in the playground each year, introducing the chicks to the children in due course. We’ve even had two nestings of Frogmouth chicks this year and feel very privileged!
