Lovely Rita

I was intending to pop out somewhere today to get a blip but I got held up again with admin. I've caught up with blip and emails now anyway.

I always find it hard to get going again after a holiday, so I've plunged to the depths of resorting to a doorbell photo.

So, yesterday I mentioned my long telephone conversation with Thames Water about the lack of actual meter readings in the last two years. Very efficiently they sent someone to today to take a reading. You could say she was a meter maid. Anyway she couldn't lift the lid either, even with me helping. So she took some photos and admitted defeat. Her view was the lid seemed to be welded down. It can't have been, but no way could we budge it at all. They need to send someone who knows how.

Meanwhile mrsfb has been doing laundry all day. I'm down to my last pair of socks. And in the related area of domestic appliances I can report that the dishwasher did a grand job yesterday. The new one is a Bosch to replace the 12 year old Neff. We would have had another Neff but they don't do a half load setting anymore, which we use a lot. They are basically the same company though and internally the new dishwasher is 99% the same configuration as the old one. There has been no dishwasher design evolution at all over the last 12 years. Which means we can carry on loading it the same different ways we used to do before.
