Calne Changes (Tuesday 18th February 2025)

The High Street experimental traffic changes that I blipped on 6th February came into effect yesterday but turned out not to be what I had expected. The unsightly barriers that channel the southbound traffic down the High Street only permit a left turn onto the A4 at the junction. This means that westbound traffic still has to go down the single-track section, taking turns with traffic going the other way, which I had expected would become one-way. Reducing the high levels of pollution along this stretch were the stated aims of the whole project.
