Erskineville 6:54 AM

I’ve never got around to filling in the More About You box on Blip, so to mark five years here it is:

I live in Erskineville, in Sydney’s inner south, with my partner K and, until three years ago, the cat.

I’ve always been interested in photography, mainly other people’s. My father and grandfather were into photography, my father semi-professionally (a sidehustle in weddings). I don’t like photos of insects because he used to pin them.

After a working life in finance, project and admin roles in the not-for-profit sector (legal centres, housing, the arts, publishing, mental health and ex-prisoners), I didn’t return to work after long service leave in January 2022. I’d discovered that not working wasn’t the same as being unemployed. There was more time for friends and family; for urban, coastal and bush walks; for reading, films and plays; and a whole new world below the surface in ocean pools.

I’ve learnt from my own photos (d’oh!) that I like street, public and guerrilla art, contemporary architecture, ghost signs, former industrial sites, abandoned places and Coogee.

And what an amazing site! An unexpected outcome has been meeting people, both virtually and in real life.

Thanks for hosting BobsBlips.
