Zeus
Visited the Archeological Museum in Athens with my friends and took lots and lots of photo's from the artifacts in that place; thus to see the pieces back home here in Holland as often as I like. We'd walked thro' the museum in separate ways as to free one another and watch what we fancied (from earlier times we'd been here).
Here the magic statue in bronze of Zeus, Dias in Greek, who's the first of the twelve gods of Greek mythology. Most Greeks speak of the "Dodeka Theoi" = The Twelve Gods... an expression I like lots and have never heard it named as such but from the Greeks themselves.
For many years this bronze statue was believed to be of the god Poseidon (Neptune) who holds his harpoon to throw; but now most scholars believe this statue is of the god Zeus / Dias (Jupiter) himself holding the Lightning in his hand and is ready to throw that down on Earth.
