Progress
Today my alarm woke me at 08:30, and I would have arrived at the agreed time had I not missed my stop on the U-Bahn. I spent the morning discussing one of our solvers with our new team member M - who will work from ZIB - and PhD student B, until the solver's author L arrived. Then the discussion became more detailed. When she changes job in June, her new employer won't allow her to talk to us about anything technical, so we have to make the most of the next 3.5 months.
After lunch in the mensa, M, B and I chatted and got some of our own work done until И arrived. We chatted about her changes to the solver, eagerly awaiting L to be available so we could discuss the details of how to modify her solver so it can be multi-threaded. It was very useful, but we stayed later than I'd expected, so ate too late to attend the usual fortnightly meeting with our Kiwi and Brazilian colleagues. It was a shame, but talking to L was a better use of time.
We had hearty traditional German food in a cozy restaurant, before emerging into the freezing Berlin night.
