Burgo Stick aka, a Spurtle

For reasons lost in the mists of BB time, porridge on Camp is known as "burgo" and is surrounded by all sorts of traditions, including an award each year for its keenest promoter.

This year, Joel was the burgo maker. No implements in the kitchen long enough to stir it without burning his hands, so M went out and made him a spurtle (or, spirtle) - the official name for a porridge stirrer, traditionally made from Scottish Maple.
