3170

Splendid day with M at the NYMR . . . this autocar is the star. Full picture and history in the extras. Made the journey uphill easily . . . and quicker than by steam.
This is a 1903 Petrol Electric Autocar, one of two built in 1903. Working the NE Coast until 1930, this is the only example left.  Today the train is composed of Autocar No 3170 and NER Coach 3453, built in 1904 and comprosing of 3rd class, 1st class and luggage compartments.
Going back later in the week to focus on that coach. Overjoyed . . . on another freezing grey day. Good to meet youngsters Paul and Bo, Mackems on tour searching for trains.
