Radiator and rugs

Two weeks ago, a radiator in our central heating system sprung a leak. Once it was spotted I was able to isolate it but the water that oozed from it was an additive laden, black horror. A hand made WHITE and blue rug from Tunisia was directly under the leak and bore the brunt of it.

The radiator was then replaced quite quickly.

Today a specialist rug cleaner tried his best but could not remove all the coin sized stains. Ah well.

While he was here, we got him to steam clean three other small, oriental rugs plus this larger one. I’ve known this rug, always called “The Chinese carpet” for as long as I can remember. I probably played on it as a baby.

The steam clean has brought out the colours but it is still a bit threadbare in places. (The dark mark at the top is a shadow, not a stain.)

Now we need to find space for it on the floor where it won’t be a trip hazard.
