Black Tailed Godwits #26
After an opticians appointment and the painful parting of a huge wad of cash for some new glasses, we headed off to Southport in search of the long staying snow bunting. What we hadn't factored in was half term - there were lots of people on the beach where the snow bunting hangs out - with kids, dogs, metal detectors etc. So it was a fruitless search. Over at Marshside we spotted a whole flock of skylarks and a distant Spoonbill, both new for this year. As it was only 1.30 we bobbed over to Martin Mere to see if the owl was coming out to play - that was a big fat No?
The Black Tailed Godwits were numerous in front of the hide and there seemed to be a lot of squabbling around, but it was really difficult to capture them with a clean background. I didn't quite manage it.
