Today's the day ....................... to watch the birdies

I had to stay home this morning - to look after the BT Openreach Engineer who has the job of installing Full Fibre Broadband to the house.  But Dominic, Tim and Will headed off to the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust Reserve at Caerlaverock, to see what they could see from the hides.

If you're there at the right time, you're always guaranteed the marvellous spectacle of the flotilla of Whooper Swans and Barnacle Geese coming to feed from the girl with the yellow wheelbarrow (see extra).  There are other hides now too to look for other birds drawn to the Solway Marshes.  They think they might have seen a Marsh Harrier, quartering the reedbeds, looking for prey.

The second extra was taken when they returned home - and Tim cooked us a great curry .......................!
