Mono Monday: Ugly

So there I was, about to do my Blip, when I saw there was some washing up to do so decided to get that out of the way first.  We've had a little bit of a leak from the mixer tap over the kitchen sink recently but nothing too bad, and I've got a plumber arranged for next week to look at it.  I started filling the sink and almost immediately, the whole top of the tap flew off and water start gushing all over the place.  Turning off the taps didn't help so I started to dive into the rather full cupboard underneath to find the stop tap.  I couldn't find it!  It wasn't where I expected and had been well hidden by a few things stacked in front of it, so by the time I managed to turn off the water we had a real mess.

It's taken about two hours of trying to get the tap back together (partially successful, but now I don't trust it) and drying off the floor and surfaces.  I don't think there's any lasting damage but I'll leave the cupboards open overnight to make sure everything is dried off properly.

Clearly, my picture has nothing to do with all of that.  There is a Mono Monday theme of 'ugly' today and whilst I don't normally get involved in politics I thought this was strangely appropriate for the theme.  The world seems to be becoming an ugly place, and especially so in the last few weeks.  We've almost got used to a Despot running one part of it aggressively and a Communist Expansionist running another, but now they've been joined by what is increasingly looking like a Fascist leader; I hesitate to say 'Dictator' just yet, but who knows what the future will bring. The 1930's are rapidly becoming history rather than experience, and whilst we learn from experience, we seem to forget the lessons of history.
