A Walk in The Park

Some things just don’t change: walks in Riverside park, with it’s now mature trees, are compulsory during the holidays even though a biting east wind cuts through your clothes The paddling pool our Dad helped build, perhaps 60 years ago, is still there now surrounded by a fenced in playground. Lumley Castle can still be seen above the other side of the river, memories of a joyful wedding party 45 years ago. Our Granddad and Grandma ran the swimming club in the river here. When a swimming pool was finally built in Chester-le-Street, they handed over the cups from the Club to continue the traditions that they had started before WWII (extra). This visit has been a trip down memory lane as I took photos of photos to take home to show any family that are interested in my side of the family. Thanks to Gillian and Brian for keeping those old albums safe.

2nd extra of Mont Blanc as we circled Geneva airport, dramatic!
