Where was I?

The quiz answer Was "The Dark Side of the Moon", hence the Pink Floyd clue.

The photo was a detail of my very old, not very spherical, inflatable Made in China moon, as depicted today.

I have struggled with my understanding of  the moon for many years. Today I reveal what I think are facts, but wait to be shot down by experts.

1. The moon rotates on its axis In the sane amount of time it takes to orbit Earth (Approx once every 27.3 days)
2. This means that we only ever see the same face of the moon
3. There is no "Dark" side of the moon, just one we never see
4. The invisible side receives just as much sunlight as Earth
5. The first photos of the Dark Side came from an unmanned Russian space craft in 1959
6. I suppose that none of its features had names before that
7.My guess is that my balloon dates from the eighties. This would have given people some 20 years to start the naming (Many of the names are Russian which is understandable)
8. The Dark Side has many more craters than the visible side. I presume that this  it gets hit more by meteorites and other space debris because it faces into space.
9. I presume that there are now many thousands of place names on the Dark Side
10. I still do not understand where the moon is going to be visible on any given night. If at all!

11. Bonus fact! The moon is about one quarter the size of Earth in width
