St Johns Kirk Perth

The famed old kirk was built in 1448 on the site of an earlier church of 1126. King Edward the 1st took mass here before grabbing the Stone of Scone ( or Destiny ) and taking it down to England, the fabled stone is now on display in the nearby new City Hall museum.
John Knox preached his famous sermon against idolatry here
, which led to UGLY scenes with the Kirk being ransacked and priests stoned. This instigated the Scottish Protestant Reformation and created the Church of Scotland.
