Appreciating Hockney

We are relaxing mid afternoon whilst Euan plays with his Lego.  This morning we walked from Bingley to Saltaire along the canal into a biting wind, feeding the ducks and geese along the way and shouting echoes underneath the bridges.  Grandad explained how the horses once pulled the narrowboats and Euan was interested in how they negotiated the bridges.

Once at Salt's Mill we warmed up with cuppas and scones.  Euan asked who the man was in the big photograph on the wall of the Diner and I explained it was the famous artist David Hockney, so when we had finished we took a walk through his gallery and Euan was absorbed in the installation which demonstrates how Hockney builds up his paintings on the I-Pad.  From there we visited the bookshop but Euan said he was very happy with the books he already had so we just picked up an activity book and went to catch the train back to Bingley.

It's chocolate bun making time with Grandad!
