Flight of the Bumblebee
Today we had our own version of "Flight of the Bumblebee". Our youngest grandson was amused by the toy butterfly coming towards him. It was a day spent with family and babies. The adults basically turned to whatever antics they could think of to get the little ones to smile. But best of all was when a three year old stroked the head of one of the babies when he was a little upset, calming him down, and, later getting the baby to smile easily.
Now, as for bumblebees - they are everywhere in my back yard pollinating the flowers and fruit trees. I'm happy to see them come and go. The sound of bumblebees is highlighted in the song, an orchestral interlude written by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov for his opera The Tale of Tsar Saltan, composed in 1899–1900. The piece closes Act III, during which the magic Swan-Bird changes the Tsar's son into an insect so that he can fly away to visit his father who does not know that he is alive. Here's the orchestral version and also an amazing version where those ivories tinkle. Enjoy!!
